Sweden to invest more in Zambia

Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Lofven says he will accelerate the flow of his country’s investments into the Zambian mining sector.

Mr Lofven says he will also push for increased Swedish investments in Zambia’s hydro Power sector.

He said this when he held bilateral talks with President Edgar Lungu on the sidelines of the United Nations, General Assembly in New York.

Mr Lofven also appealed for Zambia’s support towards his country’s bid for a non permanent seat on the UN Security Council for the period 2017- 2018.

Meanwhile, President lungu says Zambia will support Sweden’s bid for a non permanent seat on the UN Security Council.

President Lungu’s Special Assistant for Press and Public Relations, Amos Chanda disclosed this to ZNBC news in New York after the High Level bilateral talks.

Mr Chanda also disclosed that it was agreed that a Swedish delegation of businesspersons visits Zambia to explore possible linkages.

He said President Lungu also urged Swedish business firms to consider investing in various sectors of the economy.

President Lungu is expected to deliver his maiden speech to the UN General Assembly later on Saturday.
